Music in a Foreign Language – Andrew Crumey

musicina foreignA clever book about writing books, but gets the balance right and so manages to work out as a good novel. Full of great ideas and some very well crafted moments. But it must act as a tribute to this book that he tortures those poor stories almost to death with his huge brain but they still manage to thrive. Though I’m not sure about the wholesale robbery form Borges, which he claims as wholesale robbery from a fictional author Alfredo Galli, concerning an infinite library. It’s gratuitous. But one of only a few bum notes.
